Chapter Fourteen
When Bailey awoke on Saturday spooning Patsy rather than Skye, regret at having walked away from Skye and all sheâd offered stabbed sharp in her stomach. She rolled out of bed and prepared to go for a run, hoping that would help clear her head so she could figure out what she wanted to do. Unfortunately, she spent forty minutes vacillating between how much she wanted Skye and how bad an idea it was, so her mind was more jumbled when she got back than when sheâd left.
She tried to work in the garden, but even while pulling weeds, her mind traveled to the feel of Skyeâs lips, her silk-covered nipple, and then she imagined Skye taking care of herself in the shower after sheâd left.
In her mindâs eye, Skye stood in a large, walk-in shower with a glass door. She was leaning against the back wall, watching herself in the mirror through the glass as she ran one hand over her breast and squeezed her nipple while using a handheld showerhead creatively with the other. Bailey had given herself one hell of an orgasm the night before with that image and might need to do it again later today. Perhaps that would clear her mind. She stifled a groan as she imagined Skye pinching her nipple again and bringing herself to another orgasm.
Jesus.
âGood morning, Bailey!â
Bailey jolted at the sound. âGood morning, Mrs. Martin. How are you?â She knew she wasnât on her A game if Mrs. Martin could sneak up on her.
âOh, Iâm fine, dear. I was checking in. You looked like you were attacking those weeds with actual malice. Is something wrong?â
She was the sweetest woman around. âThank you, but Iâm fine, I promise. Did you see weâre starting to get a few tomatoes here?â She deftly changed the subject as she gently lifted a portion of the vine so Mrs. Martin could see. âTheyâre small, but itâs a great start. Weâre going to be in produce soon.â
âI canât wait, dear. Well, you enjoy your Saturday. Iâm off to bingo happy hour.â
âHappy hour? Itâs not even noon.â
âWhen itâs bingo for senior citizens, it should always be happy hour. When you go to bed at seven, youâve got to start early.â She laughed, shimmying her shoulders. âPlus, who knows how much time we have left? Why waste it being boring at home. Youâve gotta live your life the way you want to, Bailey. Having fun during the day isnât just for old people, either.â She winked and walked into her garage.
Feeling like a whirlwind had blown through her yard, Bailey tried to get back to weeding, but Mrs. Martinâs words stuck with her. Youâve gotta live your life. That was what she was doing. Wasnât it? She had a thriving business. She had Patsy. She had her family. She really didnât feel like she was missing anything. At least, she hadnât until sheâd met Skye. Now she didnât know which way was up.
But sheâd tried the forever commitment thing before, and it had blown up.
